Service terms

Dial Japan is a human arrangement service. We call restaurants in Japanese using the request you give us. We do not hold tables or restaurant inventory, and a request is not a reservation until the restaurant confirms it.

Using the service

You must be at least 18 and able to enter into an agreement. Give us accurate contact, party, timing, dietary, and restaurant details, and make sure you have permission to provide information about the other guests in your party.

You remain responsible for checking the confirmed date, time, party size, restaurant, and any conditions we relay. Tell us promptly through the request thread if something is wrong.

What we arrange

We may call one or more restaurants, ask questions, relay an alternative, or report that no restaurant accepted the request. Public restaurant information on the site is a discovery aid, not a statement of live availability or a recommendation made after speaking to the restaurant.

The meal and hospitality are supplied by the restaurant. The restaurant's own rules, including allergy handling, arrival time, dress, deposits, and cancellation terms, remain the restaurant's rules.

Fees and payment

The current arrangement fee is ¥550 including tax for each guest, children included, and becomes due only when a table is confirmed. The exact fee and party count are shown before you send the request and recorded with that request.

A restaurant may impose its own cancellation or no-show fee. Dial does not invent that amount. If a same-day cancellation or no-show charge is recorded, the restaurant amount and Dial's fee are shown separately.

Online card collection is not active in the current pilot. Dial will not charge a card through this site unless a card field and the applicable payment terms are shown before you submit.

Changes and cancellations

You can ask to cancel from the request page. If a restaurant has already heard from us, cancellation remains in progress until an operator tells the restaurant. A confirmed table continues to exist until the restaurant has been notified.

A change request does not cancel the original table unless we explicitly tell you it has changed or been cancelled. Restaurant cancellation conditions that were given to us appear with the booking when available.

Fair use and availability

Do not use Dial for unlawful, abusive, deceptive, automated, or speculative requests. Do not impersonate another person or submit payment information you are not authorised to use.

We may refuse or stop a request when information cannot be verified, a restaurant asks us not to call, safe handling is not possible, or use of the service threatens members, restaurants, operators, or the service itself.

Responsibility

We will perform the arrangement service with reasonable care, but we cannot guarantee availability, a restaurant's performance, or that public directory information remains current. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Japanese law applies. Any dispute will be handled by a court that has jurisdiction under applicable law.

Privacy notice

Reservation requests can contain names, contact details, travel plans, and allergy or dietary information. We use that information only to operate, protect, and improve the service described here.

Information we collect

  • Account and contact information, including email address, reservation name and pronunciation, optional phone number, language, and sign-in records.
  • Request information, including restaurants, places, dates, times, party details, budget, seating, occasions, special requests, and dietary or allergy notes.
  • Messages, alternatives, confirmations, cancellation details, call outcomes, and service-support correspondence.
  • Payment-provider customer and card references when card collection is enabled. Dial does not receive or store the full card number or security code.
  • Technical and security records needed to run the site, investigate faults, prevent abuse, and protect accounts.

Why we use it

  • To authenticate you, create and manage requests, call restaurants, communicate answers, and keep an accurate service record.
  • To remember preferences you choose to save and prefill them visibly on a future request.
  • To translate member instructions for operators, process fees when enabled, investigate delivery or payment failures, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations.
  • To understand reliability and improve the service using appropriately limited operational data.

Who receives it

We give a restaurant only the details needed to ask for and manage the reservation. This can include the reservation name, optional contact number, and dietary or allergy notes.

Service providers process data for us when their capability is configured: Supabase for authentication and data storage, Vercel for hosting, Resend for email, Square for card vaulting and payment, and a configured translation provider for operator translations. Mapping and public restaurant sources receive search or location queries, not your member account record.

Providers may process information in countries other than your own. We select and configure them for the service purpose and limit access to what that purpose requires.

Cookies

Dial uses cookies and similar browser storage only to run the service: keeping you signed in, protecting the site against abuse, and remembering the acknowledgement of this notice and choices such as your language. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser. Signing in and managing requests depend on the session cookie, so blocking it stops the signed-in parts of the service from working.

Retention and control

We keep information for as long as it is needed to arrange and support a request, protect the service, resolve disputes, and maintain required financial or audit records. Different records can therefore have different retention periods.

You can edit saved preferences and remove a saved card from the account page, subject to an open request or unpaid charge. You may ask for access, correction, deletion, or an explanation of our handling through the contact form below. Some records may need to be retained where law, safety, fraud prevention, or an unresolved transaction requires it.

Security and changes

We use access controls, row-level database rules, authenticated operator accounts, audit records, and server-only credentials. No internet service can promise absolute security, so we also record and investigate failures rather than hiding them.

If this notice changes materially, the effective date above will change and the current notice will remain available before a new request is submitted.
